What Do We Tell Our Children (and ourselves)?
Service Leaders: The Rev. Sydney Wilde
Worship Associate: Rosemary Snow

In Light of the impeachment trial of President Clinton, the topic for our January 10th service will be changed to What Do We Tell our Children? so that we might ponder some of the basic questions raised by both the President’s and the Congress’s behavior: How do we really feel about lying, and how do we explain the ambiguities to our children and ourselves? What is the toll of promiscuity? How do we make choices for the larger good, and do we really know what that is?
Unitarian Universalists are situational ethicists; we hold very few absolutes, but we do hold some. What do we do in this situation...and what do we tell our children? The sermon will be followed by discussion.

The Tensions in Communal Worship
Service Leader: The Rev. Dennis Daniel
Worship Associate: Joan Staples

When we come together on Sunday mornings, we usually have two agendas: to reconnect with our community and to reconnect with the deeper part of ourselves. These two agendas are automatically in tension with one another. This morning's service will examine that tension and suggest some ways we might benefit from it.

Giving These Stones Life
Service leader: The Rev. Dennis Daniel
Worship Associate: Joan Pederson

Our building is the single greatest factor in our experience as a community that worships together. We can try to fit it, or we can fight it. Either approach has a cost. This morning I will share some of what I have learned about worship in a Gothic structure and how it comports with Unitarian Universalist theology.
