Karen Day
"Where the Heart Is"
We will explore the elements which make a home in our hearts and celebrate the ways which this congregation provides a home for all.

Karen will be graduating from Starr King School for the Ministry on May 25. Her daughter, Anne Jonas, is an active member of our congregation. Karen and her partner, Bill Coolidge, are pleased to be back in Chicago with you today.

Special Choir Music
"And Sing Hallelujah"
The Choir will present a selection of "hallelujahs," by, among others, Ludwig Von Beethoven and Randall Thompson.
Mother's Day as a special holiday and a tradition began as a call by Julia Ward Owe for peace. Not much of that sense is still present in our cultural understanding. This service will explore the many possible meanings of a special day set aside to think about mothers and mothering as well as the fullness of our many responses to such a special day.

"Sexuality and Our Faith"
Recently the UUA, in collaboration with the United Church of Christ, produced a new Lifespan Sexuality curriculum called "Our Whole Lives" (OWL). This curriculum replaces and updates the highly successful and respected "About Your Sexuality" curriculum (AYS) that was a standard of sexuality education for junior to senior high school people for many years. This weekend our church is the host of the Central Midwest District's training of OWL for grades 7-9 facilitators. Next year we will be introducing OWL for junior and senior high schoolers into our Religious Education programming. This service will explore the questions of: why we in the UUA, and in the UCC, as people faith think it is important to include sexuality as part of our Lifespan Religious Education program and what does sexuality have to do with faith and spirituality anyway?

"The Power of Memorial: A Memorial Day Sermon"
Memorial Day began as a holiday of reconciliation. We will reflect on the power of memorial, for a nation, for a family, for a community, and for an individual heart.
