Emancipation Proclamation: A Service for All Ages
Worship Leader: Dr. Finley C. Campbell
Worship Associate: Roberta Lammers Campbell
Traditionally,
Emancipation Day, the day that celebrates Abraham Lincoln's freeing of
the black slave workers in the Confederate States, is celebrated on January
1. However, we have traditionally opted to have our celebration on the
first Sunday. This year's pageant will feature participation by persons
of all ages.

We
will take time to reflect on the witness and advocacy of Dr. Martin Luther

Restoring Our Hope, Renewing Ourselves
Worship Leader: Rev. Nina Grey
Worship Associate: Rosemary Snow
We will honor both tradition and possibility, the treasured past and the anticipated future. We will participate in a ritual of letting go of the old and welcoming in the new.
11:45: First Forum: Committee on Sundays, Etc. "Where Have We Been? Where Might We Go?" Why do we worship when and how we do? Have children's RE classes always met at the same time as the worship service? When and how can we come to know one another better? What here to we treasure, and what changes do we crave? Our congregation-wide conversation begins today. Join in!

Making Time for Sabbath
Worship Leader: Rev. Dr. Marlene R. Walker
Worship Associate: Joan Staples
Our
lives, and those of our children, keep getting busier and busier. Our schedules
get more and more complicated instead of simpler, even with Palm Pilots
and such to help us keep track of them. Is there a way out of this ever
increasing cycle of activity and business? What about the notion of a day
of Sabbath? Of rest? Of just being together? We will explore ways to slow
life down a bit and perhaps get to know each other and ourselves more deeply
in the process.
