We Are Not the Ocean

Worship Leader:  Rev. Nina D. Grey

Worship Associate:  Joan Staples

Even if it isn't actually so, we may imagine something as immense and powerful as the ocean to be eternal. By midlife or sooner, we know that we are not eternal. Our lives are relatively brief. We are more like the waves of the ocean, which flow and ebb. Today we contemplate the transience of life, dying, loss and grieving.

11:45: First Forum: "Sharing Thoughts about Transience of Life"--Rev Nina Grey and Joan Staples lead a discussion evoked by the morning worship service.

Being a Twice-born UU

Worship Leader:  Rev. Nathaniel Lauriat

Worship Associate:  Joan Pederson

Rev. Lauriat gives a sermon on how to get all the way in to being a Unitarian Universalist.

Rev. Nathaniel Lauriat has been for 55 years a UU minister, following his graduation from Harvard College in 1943 and from Meadville Theological School in 1945. He has been president of five districts, served on the Continental Committee of the Annual Program Fund, on the Board of Trustees of the UUA, and on the ministerial Fellowship Committee. He is in Chicago from his home in Sedona, AZ, to serve as Minister-in-Residence at Meadville/Lombard. He would be happy to discuss current UUism with all comers at Social Hour.

11:30: Great Books

11:45: First Forum: "Are Amphetamines Coming to Illinois?"--Paul Ulbrich, leader. There has been a recent increase in the number of illegal amphetamine labs in Illinios. We will discuss what having more readily available amphetamines could mean.
