ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE WEEK OF JANUARY 3
Greeter: Esther White
Host: Betty Holcomb
Ushers: Sadie Picardo & Everett Bernstein
"Being a Unitarian Universalist Parent," an adult religious education class facilitated by Rev. Beth Williams, will resume next Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in the Voyagers Room.
Please visit the final days of the Flea Market on Friday, January 8, Saturday, January 9 and Sunday, January 10. All times are 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Flea Market is held in the Big Basement of the church.
A special thank you to all who reached out to the Saphir family. This is a time when a little says so much.
In Light of the impeachment trial of President
Clinton, the topic for our January 10th service will be changed to What Do We
Tell our Children? so that we might ponder some of the basic questions raised by both
the Presidents and the Congresss behavior: How do we really feel about lying,
and how do we explain the ambiguities to our children and ourselves? What is the toll of
promiscuity? How do we make choices for the larger good, and do we really know what that
is?
Unitarian Universalists are situational ethicists; we hold very few
absolutes, but we do hold some. What do we do in this situation...and what do we tell our
children? The sermon will be followed by discussion.
Roselia Isaacs, who was very active with First Church, died Tuesday, December 22 in Oakland, California. Her son, Rob Eller-Isaacs, who grew up at First Church, is Co-minister at First Unitarian Church in Oakland.
