Hmmmm...
now which was I invited to - a coffee and dessert gathering or a potluck dinner? It's not
surprising if you are confused. We don't often have two similar kinds of affairs at the
same time. The dessert and coffee get-togethers are a part of the 1999 canvass campaign. They are an opportunity for you to learn about the financial needs of the church so you can make an informed pledge. They are finishing up in early April. The potluck dinner parties, fellowship dinners they are called, are designed by the Membership Committee to strengthen the ties of our church community. They are strictly for fun and to get to know your fellow members and, particularly, our newest members and friends. Two dinners have already taken place, and eight more are scheduled for April and May, including one in the south suburbs, three on the north side of Chicago, and one on the near south side. More will be planned in the future and may become a regular part of church life. The invitations and menu coordinating are being handled by various individuals. Others are providing the welcoming homes. The guests are asked to bring some food or beverage to share, and to please respond promptly to your invitation. We are inviting more people than a particular host can accommodate, so the places will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis. If you can't attend the party to which you are invited, your coordinator can offer you a choice of other dinners. Or you can call Joan Bernstein (773) 624-5136 or sign up for your choice with her during Coffee Hour. You may also offer your home for a future dinner. |
