The last official Social Justice Council movie night occurred on April 2, with the showing of "Mulholland Falls". Due to lack of congregational interest in the series, we do not expect to resume the series in the future.

The Charlotte Lackner Anti-Racism Committee hopes before the end of the current church year to present a First Forum on the UUA’s White Skin Privilege Policy position. The forum focusing on Amnesty International’s USA Campaign has been deferred until the fall.

On March 25, the Illinois House of Representatives passed, by a vote of 67-47, House Resolution 60, calling for the establishment of an independent, non-partisan Task Force on the death penalty to investigate the Illinois laws providing for the death penalty and its administration, and make recommendations on needed corrections. The resolution also calls upon Gov. George Ryan to exercise his authority, under Article V of the Illinois Constitution, to institute a moratorium on executions until the Task Force has issued its findings and recommendations, and ask the Supreme Court of Illinois to exercise its judicial discretion under Rule 613 and refrain from setting any executions during that time period.
