WELCOME CHRISTMAS PRESENTS! In addition to the Silent Santa presents given out to residents at the Grove Parc Annual Christmas Party on December 11, 1998, Karen Coleman, Director of the Grove Parc Residents Initiative Program, announced that the Kaplan Family Foundation awarded $5,000 to Grove Parc to pay the rent and other operating expenses for the Circle of Love Day Care Center. The Kaplan Foundation also recommended other funding sources for Grove Parc to apply to, and Karen will enlist aid in grant-writing from a friend of Margaret Huyck The December 11th Christmas Party, held at the Harris YWCA, was a festive occasion for the 100 residents and their children. The program included food, games, an exhibition by the CMD Youth Group Dancers and an hour of storytelling. Several members of First Church also attended, including Sydney Wilde (who, dressed up as a clown, intrigued many children), Dennis Daniel, Beth Williams, Cindy Carroll, Richard and Rosemary Snow, Ioanna Crawford. and Anita Orlikoff and her daughter Rachel and a friend of Rachel's. (If I left anyone out, I apologize.) The residents enjoyed the entertainment and those receiving Secret Santa gifts were very pleased with their presents. |
