Is the Thermometer Half Full or Half Empty?

The good part is that over 50 pledge units have committed themselves to pledge over $85,000 for the coming fiscal year. That is over halfway to our goal and represents an average pledge of $1,700 with an average increase of 14%. Oh, if only we could all do that; but if not, please pledge what you think is appropriate for you.

Most of us give what we feel we can. And for some, a small pledge may be a large percentage of their income. Such generosity is greatly appreciated, as is the enormous amount of volunteer work that helps keep this church afloat.

The coffee and dessert gatherings have been a great success. The conversation is interesting and those of us present have enjoyed these occasions. A great vote of thanks goes to the those who are hosting these events: Diane Ryan Broz, Al and Alice Hayes, Nancy Harlan, Marge and John Saphir, Allan Lindrup and Ann Holcomb, Winston and Margaret Kennedy, Betty Holcomb, and Margaret and Tom Huyck.

But the hard part lies ahead. To reach our goal, we need a pledge from every member and contributing friend. So, help us out and return pledge cards we mailed to those of you who could not attend the social functions. If you care to make your pledge by phone, please call me at home, (773) 667-7614. Thanks to everyone who has helped in this endeavor.

We look forward to an exciting year!
