A letter From the Aids Pastoral Care Network

Dear Friends at First Church,

Thank you for allowing me to speak at your church on November 29, and for taking a special collection for the AIDS Pastoral Care Network (APCN). Your community contributed $365, which, because it was given during a matching grant period, will double to $730. As several of you made anonymous donations, we will count them as having come from the church and will add the First Unitarian Society of Chicago to our donor list this year. Your support is also a source of encouragement in my personal ministry in the HIV epidemic.

APCN is proud to announce that Rev. Diana Bradie-Timberlake has joined our staff. Rev. Bradie-Timberlake is stationed full-time in the South Shore neighborhood, where she will coordinate HIV prevention projects with member churches of the South Shore Ministerial Association. Part of your donation will support her work in this neighborhood where the AIDS incidence rate is nearly 50% higher than the city average.

If APCN can ever be of assistance to you and yours-whether by providing care to someone impacted by HIVS/AIDS or assisting with a prevention program-do not hesitate to call me. Through the generosity of religious communities like yours, our services are still provided free of charge. We would welcome the opportunity to be of service to you.

In fellowship,

Tom Hartman
Director of Development, AIDS Pastoral Care Network
