Climate Change: Its Causes, Consequences and Cures
Presenter: Richard Treptow

Temperatures are rising, glaciers are melting, and world food production is threatened.  Climate change has its consequences and we humans are its cause.  It results from the greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere by our use of fossil fuels, our industrialization and our exploitation of the earth’s surface.  People, governments and industries around the world are taking action.  Their cures range from improving the energy efficiency of buildings to regulating utility companies.  But denial is rampant and progress is slow.  This slideshow presentation will illustrate the basic science, the human drama and the steps toward solutions.

Richard Treptow is a recently retired professor of chemistry from Chicago State University.  He is dedicated to the cause of protecting our earth’s climate through his work as a speaker, a Sierra Club lobbyist and a member of the Union of Concerned Scientists.
