February 26 - Empty Bowls Project
Thanks to all who participated in the bowl painting in January! Sunday February 26th, we will sell the bowls during an Empty Bowls soup luncheon after the service.
The Empty Bowls Project is a program that began in the early 1990s and is supported by the Imagine/Render nonprofit organization (www.emptybowls.net ). Groups throughout the country make and/or decorate bowls and then sell them during a soup luncheon. The money raised from the bowl sales goes to an organization that works to fight hunger.
Empty Bowls has been an annual project at First Unitarian for many years. This year, the money raised from our bowl sales will go to the Hyde Park Hunger Programs, care of the Hyde Park Union Church. For more information on the Hunger Program please visit www.hpuc.org .
I hope you and your children will participate in the Empty Bowls project at First Unitarian this year. Together, we can help feed the hungry in our community |

March 18 - Talent Auction
What great church event raises money and lets you fill up your social calendar at the same time?
TALENT AUCTION, of course! What will you offer this year? Are you a great cook? A cozy dinner would be nice. Are you someone who can organize a fun, family picnic in the park? Do you have some favorite places you’ve been wanting to share with other folks? How about providing cookies for someone else’s special occasion? Willing to help at an event with the church getting the benefit? Can you tutor someone in a tough subject? Or walk a dog? Baby sitting is ALWAYS appreciated.
You don’t have to do it alone. Grab a friend and combine talents. Got an idea, but don’t really know how to carry it off? Consult with one of the Talent Auction Team (Madeiria Myrieckes, Cindy Pardo, Cathy Harth-Stern) to see how you can turn your great idea into FUNd-raising for the church. Family friendly activities that can be sold at a set price are particularly appreciated |
